Enrollment: 120 Boys and Girls, Ages 2.3 - 5
Shaaray Tefila welcomes children and their families from birth through adulthood. Every day of the week children fill our building with their enthusiasm and wonder.
We begin with Parenting Programs for parents and children as young as birth. These programs continue until children are old enough for Nursery School, at the age of 2.3 years old. Parents have an opportunity to meet each other, and discuss issues of child development and parenting with our teaching staff led by Sue Yulis. Children make new friends early and enjoy celebrating Jewish holidays together.
Our Nursery School begins with children who are at least 2 years & 3 months old and goes through pre-K, with children just turning 5 in September, as our oldest students. Every year we are delighted to see how children grow. They develop their abilities to ask questions and begin to know how to look for the answers. They begin to enjoy being part of a community of peers. They rejoice together through all of their discoveries, creations, and celebration of the Jewish holidays.
Our Shabbat and Holiday Programs are for all families with children between the ages of birth and about six years old. There are Tot Shabbats on the first Friday of every month in the Sanctuary at 5:15 PM. This is an age-appropriate half-hour of singing Shabbat songs and liturgy. This is a joyous, fun, and respectful time. Once a month, there is a Tot Shabbat on a Saturday morning at 9:30 AM in the Raisler Room with families sitting on a rug in front of a small ark. Again, song and warm feelings fill the room. Services are followed by bagels and a Jewish art or craft project.
