Rabbi Jill Rubin is thrilled to be joining Temple Shaaray Tefila as assistant rabbi. She was ordained in 2022 by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, and received a Masters of Jewish Nonprofit Management and a Masters of Hebrew Literature in 2021. During rabbinical school, Rabbi Rubin served on the student leadership team for the HUC-New York Soup Kitchen and was active in community-building on campus. Over her five years of training, she served Jewish communities in Jerusalem, Maine, and Brooklyn, and worked at The Community Synagogue of Port Washington for three years as the student rabbi.

Rabbi Rubin is from Los Altos, CA, and grew up in the warm community of Congregation Beth Am. She received her BA from Duke University, and is particularly interested in American Jewish history. Rabbi Rubin wrote her senior honors thesis on the black-Jewish coalition that formed during the Civil Rights Movement. During her time as an undergraduate, Rabbi Rubin lived in Salta, Argentina and studied in Madrid, Spain. She is also an avid Duke basketball fan, having traveled across the country for NCAA tournaments and slept in tents for important rivalry games.

Rabbi Rubin believes that the best connections happen over a meal. Rabbi Rubin and her husband, Ryan, live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
