High Holy Days Food Drive

Your Donation Makes a Difference

Hunger is a growing problem everywhere, including right here in New York City.  There are shortages at food pantries.  We can help.

Each year, we run a special Food Drive that begins on Yom Kippur, when congregants receive an empty shopping bag as they leave services. We ask that you fill the bag with canned goods, whole-grain pasta, sauces that are low in sugar or sodium, low-sugar cereals, shelf-stable milk, healthy snack options and other non-perishable food items, spending what would have been spent on food that day, and return their filled bags by Simchat Torah. Donations go to the New York Common Pantry.

Volunteers are needed on Yom Kippur to distribute Food Drive bags to congregants as they leave services. Please contact Faith Silberstein at [email protected] to volunteer or for more information.
