On MLK Day we honored the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by packing 1,000 backpacks with donated toiletries for Syrian refugees, raised funds to buy half a dozen two-family tents to shelter families in Syrian refugee camps, and sent more than 100 advocacy letters to our congressional representatives, asking them to (1) sponsor the No Muslim Ban Act, (2) defund the Remain In Mexico policy, and (3) sponsor the Grace Act, which would set the minimum number of refugees admitted to the United States at 95,000 (in contrast to the 17,000 refugees admitted to the U.S. in 2019).
