Family Services
At Temple Shaaray Tefila, we believe that gathering as a family and sharing Jewish traditions with our children builds connections through the generations and a strong Jewish identity.

Celebrate with us!
Family Shabbat Services
Family Shabbat is a series of Shabbatot designed to bring our entire community together to celebrate the Sabbath and each other throughout the year. Everyone is invited and all are welcome to attend as we bring many different generations of Temple Shaaray Tefila’s community together for an evening of meaning, connection, and purpose!
Tot Shabbat
Geared for families with children age 5 and younger, Tot Shabbat is a chance for your family to engage in a fun, warm, and accessible Shabbat experience with our clergy, early childhood staff, and music educator. For both Friday evening and Saturday morning Tot Shabbats, families will enjoy music, tefila (prayer), and learning about the Torah through storytelling. Saturday mornings include a light breakfast and family craft activity.
Tot & Family Holiday Celebrations
We are pleased to offer family-friendly opportunities to celebrate Jewish holidays throughout the year. Some of our holiday celebrations include:
For Chanukah, we have our annual Tot Chanukah Service & Brunch with light exploration and art activities, as well as our congregation-wide Shabbat Chanukah with a community candle lighting and a family-friendly service.
Wear your favorite costume on Purim for our annual Purim Spiel, a fun retelling of the Purim story featuring our wonderful staff and members of our volunteer choirs, followed by our Purim Carnival for families with children Pre-K and up. We also have a Tot Purim Play & Carnival for families with children 5 and under.
During the High Holy Days, we have age-appropriate tot family services for member families on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur day. For member children Pre-K through 6th grade, we offer Religious School programming on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur day, and offer babysitting for member children ages 20 months to 5 years old during the main services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We also hold a family-friendly Simchat Torah celebration where you and your family can participate in unrolling the Torah scroll (age 13+) and dance with the Torahs to the music of our Shabbat band.
And many more.
Building an inclusive community is a priority and we strive to create an environment that is accessible for all. Contact us and we will make every effort to meet your needs.
