Mitzvah Day 2026

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 19, 2026, 1:00-4:00pm

Join us on MLK Day at the synagogue to honor the memory of Martin Luther King, Jr. with family-friendly, hands-on activities that will benefit New Yorkers in need. We will create care packages for homebound members and local seniors, make bagged meals for New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity, decorate onesies for our smallest neighbors, and the list goes on. There are activities for all ages to help and be involved.

Don't forget to bring extra coins for Backpack Buddies Koins for Kids!

Making Cards for Pediatric Cancer Patients, Local Seniors, and to celebrate Shaaray Tefila's 180th Anniversary. (For all ages)

Collapsible Temple Shaaray Tefila Water Bottle Sale to Support Dayenu - $20 each(cash only please).

SCHEDULE OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Register for our volunteer activities per the schedule below. Please register for each opportunity separately. Spaces are limited.

1:00pm

Make Sandwiches to Distribute to New Yorkers in Need - SIGN UP HERE
Limited to 50 people. (Ages 12+ or 7+ with an adult. Younger children can attend with parents to decorate bags)

Create Care Packages for Soup Kitchen Patrons and Other New Yorkers in Need - SIGN UP HERE
Limited to 40 people. (Ages 12+ or 7+ with an adult)

Create Gift Bags for Homebound Congregants - SIGN UP HERE
Limited to 25 people. (Ages 12+ or 7+ with an adult)

Decorate Onesies and Bibs - SIGN UP HERE
Limited to 15 people. (Ages 12+ or 7+ with an adult)

Book/Pajama Donation and Activity - SIGN UP HERE
Limited to 15 people. (Ages 2-7 with an adult)
