Rabbi Aviva Richman, a dean at Hadar, an egalitarian institute of Jewish learning, will take us on a playful and closer look with a Jewish lens on all things food. We will explore classical Jewish sources to see how food laws intersect richly with personal experiences on a psychological, social and ethical plane.
From Food to Fulfillment: A Hasidic Journey from Passover to Shavuot
Jewish foods are delicious - they are also formative. We will explore a hasidic teaching that focuses on "opening our mouths" to eat food at the Passover Seder as the first step in a journey towards self-expression and receiving the Torah on Shavuot. When we are at a loss, the first step is to open our mouths. As we move from Passover to Shavuot each year, we have the opportunity to nourish ourselves in body and soul, so we can find new ways to express our powerful voices and never give up on revelation and redemption.
