How Can I Pray When I’m Not Sure I Believe in God?

A two-session adult learning conversation with Rabbi Mosbacher, May 7 & 14 @7:00pm.
What are you supposed to do with the words of the prayer book when you’re not sure anyone is listening?
For many people, prayer can feel like an act of pretending—saying words about a God they’re not sure they believe in, in a language that feels like putting on someone else’s clothes.
If that resonates, you are not alone—and you are not outside Jewish tradition.
This two-session conversation with Rabbi Mosbacher takes those questions seriously. We will explore bravely and safely our own questions and doubts and wonderings. And together, we will explore the many ways Jewish thinkers across time have understood God, presence, and the possibility of prayer—from the deeply personal to the radically reimagined.
The goal in these sessions is not to resolve doubt, but to make room for it. You don’t need certainty to walk in. You just need a willingness to be honest about where you are- wherever that is.
