Donor & Membership Shabbat Service

In person & online
Open to members & non-members
Please join us in person and online for a special Donor & Membership Shabbat Service, honoring our Annual Appeal donors - over 300 families whose generosity helps ensure that this congregation continues to thrive for generations to come.
We will also proudly celebrate congregants with over 20 years of membership at Shaaray Tefila and offer deep thanks to everyone in our community, past and present, whose commitment has kept these gates of prayer open for generations.
In addition, we are pleased to welcome New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin, who will present the official proclamation in honor of the congregation’s 180th anniversary.
Please join us after the service for a festive oneg following the service.
This Shabbat also begins Rabbi Mosbacher's four-week Haftarah sermon series, After The Chains are Broken.
The Torah tells the dramatic story of liberation in the book of Exodus– a text we read in January in the regular cycle of Torah readings, and then again at Passover. The Haftarah portions for the weeks that follow our liberation story ask a harder question: What kind of people do we become once the chains are broken? Rabbi Mosbacher offers a sermon series on four Friday nights based on the prophetic readings for each Shabbat. The assertion that Rabbi Mosbacher makes in this series is this: Freedom is not proven by how chains are broken — but by how responsibility is carried afterward.
This Shabbat: Parashat Bo (Jeremiah 46) - As we honor our Annual Appeal donors and our longtime members, Rabbi Mosbacher will speak on the theme, “Will We Act As If We Are Responsible for One Another?”
Festive oneg to follow.
