Every Voice, Every Vote: 2025 GOTV Civic Engagement Campaign – Virginia

Shaaray Tefila is excited to be a part of Every Voice, Every Vote – the Reform Movement’s Civic Engagement Campaign. This nonpartisan effort aims to strengthen our democracy by encouraging everyone to participate in the U.S. election process and ensuring that Reform Jewish values are represented in the public square.
I want to help! How can I participate?
Postcard writers on our Every Voice Every Vote Civic Engagement Campaign: We are ready to begin our next campaign to GOTV for early voting in the upcoming GENERAL ELECTION IN VIRGINIA.
Once again, we will be working with the Center for Common Ground.
We will be writing to ALL 920,000 registered Black voters in Virginia. Major races on the ballot: Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and all 100 House Delegates.
We are holding two postcarding parties on Thursday, September 11 and Thursday, September 25 from 6:00-8:00pm. Seating is limited to 25 persons for each night.
Register HERE to attend a postcarding party.
Party questions? Please contact Carol Crossen.
Postcards must be mailed between September 15 and October 20, close to the 45-day Early Voting period from September 19 to November 1. We urge early voting to avoid long lines and other Election Day hazards of racially targeted voter suppression. Virginia will be voting on these issues: affordable healthcare, education, housing, food, civil rights and Black history.
"Virginia's gubernatorial elections are unique because the Old Dominion is the only state that prevents incumbent governors from seeking immediate reelection. As a result, these races are always open-seat contests that test each party's strength just a year after the presidential contest — which has usually benefited the party not in the White House."
"The result in the gubernatorial race could help determine if Virginia will continue to have divided government or if Democrats will claim a "trifecta" — control of the governorship and both chambers of the legislature. All 100 of the seats in the state's lower legislative chamber, the House of Delegates, will also be on the ballot in November, and Democrats won just a 51-to-49 seat advantage in 2023, so it could be a very tight affair. (The state Senate isn't on the ballot until 2027, but Democrats' narrow majorities there and in the House will also have to survive a cadre of low-turnout special elections later this month, albeit mostly in blue-leaning seats.)"
"Additionally, Virginia will elect its next lieutenant governor and attorney general. Considering the lack of split-ticket voting in recent years, one party is likely to carry all three statewide offices"
"Virginia will elect its first woman governor — and first Black woman if Sears can break the commonwealth's recent electoral trend."
