Extraordinary Jewish Women with Author Judy Batalion
Wednesday, October 13 @7:00pm-8:30pm
Join Temple Shaaray Tefila’s Sisterhood for the first in this year’s series on Extraordinary Jewish Women. Renowned journalist Judy Batalion will join us for a discussion of her #1 New York Times bestseller, The Light of Days: The Untold Story of Women Resistance Fighters in Hitler’s Ghettos. We will also meet Sharon Marcus, an Upper East Side mom and teacher who found an incredible connection to one of the women heroines in the book.
Hailed as “one of the most important stories of World War II” and already optioned by Steven Spielberg for a major motion picture, this extraordinary book brings to life the searing stories of the “Ghetto Girls” who mobilized into resistance cells to fight the Nazis. These brave women hid revolvers in teddy bears and marmalade jars, bribed Nazis with whisky and homemade pastries, blew up German supply trains, and more. Yet until now, their stories were all but unknown. These are indeed “Extraordinary Jewish Women” whose legacy makes us both proud and humbled. We hope you will join us to learn more.
Signed books will be available for pick up at the event if purchased in advance through the registration link. Signed books are $18.00.
