IM: Interfaith Matters was established as a subcommittee of the Social Action Committee of Shaaray Tefila to create, coordinate and promote interfaith programs, activities and events both at Shaaray Tefila and within the community. Our focus is to develop and maintain relationships on a personal and institutional basis with diverse religious organizations. Building relationships will enable us to engage in constructive dialogues and actions to promote tikkun olam (repair of our world).
Such activities may include:
- educational programs, so that Jews and non-Jews may learn about each other’s faiths, history and culture;
- chesed opportunities, so that Jews and non-Jews may work together on social projects of mutual interest;
- interfaith dialogue, so that Jews and non-Jews may discuss relevant topics in a constructive manner; and
- worship services, so that Jews and non-Jews may come together in prayer.
