The 2020 Census In the UES
Wednesday, January 8 @6:30pm-7:30pm
In our own UES neighborhood, the response rate for the 2010 Census hovered at just 70% and we lost two congressional seats and millions in federal funding.
Census information is used to determine New York City’s fair share of $650 billion in federal funds for public education, public
housing, infrastructure, hospitals and food programs—as well as the number of seats we have in Congress. 2020 represents
challenges not faced in 2010, partly because of NYC’s large and increasingly vulnerable immigrant population, but it’s more than
that. Did you know that one of the largest uncounted group were ultra religious Jews?
Join us as we hear from Julie Menin, Director of NYC Census 2020 and Joli Golden, a partnership specialist with the US Census to learn what is at stake and how our synagogue can help ensure a full count.
