Take Action: Hold Mayor De Blasio Accountable on Senior Housing
Wednesday, June 12 @6:00pm-7:30pm
Location: Outside Gracie Mansion (88th St & East End Ave)
Arrive: @5:45pm (to get a good spot)
Last June, Bill De Blasio stood on the steps of City Hall and pledged to spend $500 million to build thousands of new affordable senior citizen housing on publicly available lots, but has since broken that promise. About 20% of NYCHA’s 400,00 residents are senior citizens, many of whom live in 2 and 3 bedroom apartments where they raised their children who have since moved. NYCHA has a waiting list of 250,000 that could move into these larger apartments if many seniors could move to nearby new affordable senior housing.
Join Rabbi Mosbacher and thousands of other leaders from Manhattan Together and Metro IAF on the one-year anniversary of that pledge. Demand that this Mayor keeps his promise and address the affordability crisis by spending $1 billion on affordable senior citizen housing (the $500 million he promised last year, and $500 million for the upcoming year) or step aside and let someone else really lead the City.
