Stand Before the Ark
Tuesday, September 22 @4:00pm-8:00pm
Our final Torah reading of the High Holy Days teaches that when God gave us Torah, all souls were present, not just those of the people standing there that day. While Torah is not confined by place or time or person, many find our High Holy Days tradition of providing time to draw close to the sacred scrolls very meaningful.
In the days between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur (Tuesday, September 22 through Thursday, September 24 from 4:00-8:00pm), we are offering our members the opportunity to, by appointment, safely enter the sanctuary and stand before the open ark.
Details + Logistics
- Each member household may sign up for ONE 10-minute time slot.
- Masks are required at all times, both while waiting outside the building and while inside.
- Participants will wait outside until their chosen time slot, enter through our side door on 79th street, and will exit through our doors on 2nd avenue after they are finished.
Have questions? Please feel free to contact Executive Director Amy Schwach via email at email@example.com.
I’m not able to come to the sanctuary.
For those who are unable, for any reason, to make it to the synagogue for our in-person offering, we’ve created a virtual space for personal reflection. With 25 minutes of music paired with video of the ark in our sanctuary, we hope this online experience provides a moment of meaning during these sacred days.
