Ruth W. Messinger Global Ambassador for American Jewish World Service
Ruth W. Messinger is the Global Ambassador for American Jewish World Service, an international human rights organization which she ran from 1998-2016. Additionally, Messinger does social justice organizing and teaching at the Jewish Theological Seminary, at the Meyerson JCC, for the Jewish Womens’ Foundation of New York and for Melton Schools.
A trained social worker, Ruth previously had a twenty-year career in elected office in New York City. She serves on several boards including Surprise Lake Camp, is a 50+ year member of SAJ-Judaism That Stands for All, is married to an educator and has 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She has a very long family history with UJA/Federation.
