Book Talk: We Refuse to be Enemies – How Muslims and Jews Can Make Peace, One Friendship at a Time
Tuesday, May 18 @7:30pm-8:45pm
Sebeeha Rehman and Walter Ruby, both interfaith activists, share their overlapping life journeys: of a Muslim-American woman of Pakistani origin and a Jewish-American man who spent formative years in Israel. This is the story of how they connected and embarked on a mission to bring their communities together at a fraught historical moment when American Muslims and Jews are imperiled by the rise of white nationalism. They share their stories of finding commonalities between their faiths, they wrestle with some sensitive issues, and they share their vision and roadmap for reconciliation.
Sebeeha Rehman is an Upper East Side resident, living just 5 blocks from Temple Shaaray Tefila and writes in the book about her transformative experiences joining our community just after the 2016 elections, the Pittsburgh shooting and accompanying our former Rabbi, Beni Weinberg on his first visit to a mosque on 96th Street.
Walter Ruby is a former Jerusalem Post correspondent, who has devoted the last 15 years to interfaith activism in America.
The first 18 registrants to this program will receive a copy of the book as a gift. If you would like to purchase a copy of We Refuse to be Enemies:
