Anna Stein joined Temple Shaaray Tefila in February of 2017 and oversees the organization’s fundraising and development initiatives and events. Anna's development experience is accrued over 10 years in the nonprofit sector, through which she has developed a deep appreciation for philanthropists working to make a difference in their communities and the world. The most fulfilling aspect of her career so far has been the privilege to connect people to meaningful causes and in doing so, engaging them not only on a professional level, but also on a personal one. Anna believes that recognition is an essential way to engage donors and prospects and can serve as a powerful tool to build and strengthen long-term support for an organization and its mission.
Anna was born in Baku, Azerbaijan and she and her family emigrated from the Former Soviet Union in 1989 when she was just 6 years old. Anna's family received immeasurable support from their local Jewish community and she always knew that someday she wanted to do the same meaningful work and give back to her community. Working towards realizing her dreams, Anna went on to serve as the Director of special Events at Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, where she helped raise nearly $2.5M a year for underserved youth in NYC. Prior to that, Anna served as the Assistant Director for the Women’s International Zionist Organization (WIZO) for over 5 years where she worked with thousands of women across the world on behalf of the women and children of Israel. Anna also held other development positions at Central Synagogue and The Edith & Carl Marks Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst (beneficiary of the UJA).
Anna earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts before moving to New York City’s Upper East Side over 10 years ago. You may reach Anna at (212) 328-9393 or [email protected]
